What we have been exploring so far…

Our main focus from the very beginning of this project has been the cyclical nature of care homes. The small trinkets which for a period of time, have the ability to transform a clinical shell of a room into a home. These objects which appear insignificant and mass produced, for the owner evoke memories and emotions. We want to represent the transient nature of life, showing that no matter how much memories are document and treasured through out a persons life, inevitably when their time comes to an end, their memories must cease to exist too.

These are images from our latest installation. We have attempted to encapsulate the essence of a care home by recreating the corner of a bedroom.

We have mounted a number of miss matched frames to the wall. All collected from various charity shops, some have been left blank in order for projections to be applied at a later date. The cold and isolated feel of the harsh blank white also seems to emphasise the transient nature of memories.

when applying the paint to the walls we made sure to create an ageing, layered texture. This further implies the ‘one in, one out’ cyclical nature of a care home.
